Terms of Use

1. The parties

The Nuruu keyboard, the Nuruu app and the service the app talks to (“Nuruu”) are made and distributed by L’Atelier Gege LLC (the “Company”, “we”, “us”). These terms apply between the Company and you when you use Nuruu. By installing and using Nuruu you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Nuruu.

How we handle your data is in the Privacy Policy.

2. What Nuruu is

  • The Nuruu keyboard: a keyboard for writing Mongolian script on your phone.
  • The Nuruu app: an app to set up the keyboard, write in Mongolian script, check the spelling, and share what you wrote as a picture.
  • Contribution: a voluntary choice, for people aged 18 or older, to share the Mongolian script written in the app to help build a Mongolian-script dictionary (section 5).

3. Free

Nuruu is free. There are no payments, purchases or ads.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • overload Nuruu’s service, send it automated requests in bulk, or get around its protections or limits;
  • use someone else’s phone code to reach or delete their texts;
  • contribute anything unlawful or that infringes someone else’s rights;
  • decompile, extract, copy or redistribute the app’s software or fonts, except where the law allows it.

Our service may refuse requests that break these terms.

5. Your text and contributions

What you write stays yours.

If you contribute, you give the Company a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to use the texts you send to build a Mongolian-script dictionary and to build and improve language tools. We never publish your texts as they are. You can have what you sent deleted at any time, and we stop keeping the texts you delete. Words and counts already taken from them into the dictionary stay.

  • Contributing is only for people aged 18 or older.
  • If you paste someone else’s writing and share it with “Share this text”, you must have the right to share it.
  • The keyboard and the app work in full whether or not you contribute.

6. Software and fonts

  • Nuruu’s software, design and name belong to the Company. Under these terms, you may use Nuruu on your own phone.
  • The app uses the Company’s modified build of Noto Sans Mongolian, by the Noto Project Authors, under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.
  • Gege Pixel, Gege Pixel Shahaa and Gege Pixel Mini are the Company’s own fonts. They are in the app for use in the app only; extracting or distributing them is not allowed. To use the fonts elsewhere, get them from pixel.gege.mn; personal use is free.
  • Experimental fonts belong to their owners and are used only for the Company’s internal testing.

7. No warranty

Nuruu is provided as is. We do not promise that it will work without errors or interruption, or that it will suit your purpose. The checker’s suggestions, the joining of suffixes and the spelling fixes can be wrong. Check anything important yourself.

8. Limitation of liability

Your writing is kept only on your phone, and we keep no backup of it for you. To the extent the law allows, the Company is not liable for indirect loss or for lost data arising from using, or being unable to use, Nuruu. Nothing in this section limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.

9. App Store and Google Play

If you got Nuruu from Apple’s App Store or Google Play, their terms apply as well. Neither company is responsible for supporting or maintaining Nuruu.

10. Changes to Nuruu, and stopping

We may change Nuruu or stop parts of it. You may stop using Nuruu at any time by deleting it from your phone. How to have what you sent deleted is in the Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to these terms

If we update these terms, we will publish them here with a new version number and date. If you keep using Nuruu after an update, you accept the new terms.

  • 1.1 (19 October 2026): added the Company’s name, what Nuruu is, liability, stopping use, and this section; new structure.
  • 1.0 (19 October 2026): first version.

12. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of Mongolia. We will first try to settle any dispute by talking it through; failing that, it will be settled by the courts of Mongolia.
